Scottish & Irish Tours FAQs

It is not compulsory to tip in British or Irish restaurants, although it is a polite gesture after receiving great hospitality. If you do choose to tip, leaving at least 10% is the norm, and of course, you may wish to leave more if the service was exemplary.

The same rules apply for bartenders in bars and pubs in Scotland – the expectation is not there but the appreciation will be. Social expectations on tipping are much more relaxed than say in America, for example. You are free to tip your tour guide or driver guides but again do not feel obliged to do so.

Between April and September is peak tourist season. These are during the spring and summer months when temperatures are higher. Although colder autumn months offer their own degree of charm.

The weather in Britain and Ireland can be unpredictable at times, so it’s advised to bring a variety of different clothing. Both countries are susceptible to quick showers, irrespective of the time of year, so make sure to bring waterproofs.

Make sure to wrap up warm during the winter months, especially if you are going to Ireland or Scotland since temperatures in both countries can plummet to minus zero.

Equally, the climate can get really warm during the summer so make sure to bring shorts and a t-shirt, especially if you are going to the south of England where temperatures can go over 30 degrees.
